IMP’s major research activities are:

• Magnetism, new magnetic materials and technologies, crystal and magnetic structures, intelligent technologies for diagnostics of materials and products
• Metal, semiconductor and molecular spintronics, new materials for microelectronics and nanospintronics, magnetic nanoheterostructures, low-dimensional spin systems and nanomaterials
• Physical materials science, structure and physical and mechanical properties of metals, alloys and composites, structural and phase transformations under intense exposure, development of advanced materials and methods for their processing
• Сondensed matter quantum physics, electronic structure and properties, theory of strongly correlated electronic systems, computer materials science
